SPARK: Igniting Tomorrow’s Leaders in Leesburg 

The Leesburg Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to introduce SPARK, a dynamic leadership program designed to inspire and equip the next generation of community leaders. The objective of SPARK is to “ignite” the leaders of tomorrow in our hometown, providing a select group of high-achieving juniors and seniors from Leesburg High School who have demonstrated leadership skills or are already recognized as leaders in various areas, not just academically but also in sports, band, chorus, ROTC, FFA, Construction Academy, Culinary Academy, and other disciplines with an unparalleled opportunity to explore the inner workings of local business, government, and community service.

A Legacy of Leadership

SPARK first launched during the 2014-2015 school year and has successfully run each year since, with a brief pause from 2021 through 2023. The program resumed in the 2023-2024 school year and continues to empower students today.

A Curriculum Built for Success

SPARK is structured to enlighten students on the vast array of business and professional opportunities available within Leesburg and Lake County. The program kicks off with a full-day leadership training session focused on personal development and team building. Following this immersive start, participants will engage in a total of five sessions, each dedicated to crucial sectors of the local economy and community, including:

• Economic Development & Government – Understanding local businesses, entrepreneurship, and how local governance shapes our community.
• Media – Learning the role of communication in civic engagement.
• Criminal Justice & Public Safety – Gaining insights into law enforcement, emergency services, and legal systems.
• Healthcare – Examining all aspects of the medical field and its community impact.

By the end of the program, students will have a comprehensive understanding of the forces that drive their community, as well as sharpened leadership skills that will serve them well in any future career path.

Commitment to Leadership

SPARK is a one-year leadership program, requiring full participation from all selected students. The program consists of a total of five days, with each session covering key aspects of the community., demanding a strong commitment from participants and their families.

Upon completion, students will emerge with:

• A deeper appreciation for their community.
• Practical leadership skills for future careers.
• A clearer vision of opportunities available in Leesburg after graduation.
